BMO makes Enhancements to Mobile Banking and Online Banking

13 November, 2011

Today is a good day for Bank of Montreal (BMO) clients; BMO has announced that they have made significant enhancements to both its online and mobile banking functionality and services. These changes are aimed to improve the overall experience for BMO clients when they use BMO’s online banking and BMO’s mobile banking app.

The changes made today include a redesigned BMO Online Banking site, which like I mentioned, is aimed to improve the experience for online banking customers and enhanced BMO mobile banking features.

The redesigned BMO Online Banking site offers a new simplified layout, which is designed to give clients a more efficient online banking experience for all customers. It will also offer user-friendly enhancements, such as the ability to manage shortcuts for preferred transactions and make bill payments and fund transfers directly rom the “My Accounts” page.

Basically, these user-friendly enhancements will allow you to get your online banking done far more efficiently than before.

These changes are pretty good considering it was an unexpected move, and I am sure a lot of people will enjoy being able to create shortcuts for preferred transactions.

Now to be honest, I am far more interested in the mobile banking enhancements.

The changes made to BMO’s mobile banking app includes:

  • Bill payment and cancellation
  • Management of account balances, recent transactions and fund transfers between BMO accounts
  • Finding the location of the nearest BMO branches or ATMs

Now, these enhancements are great, I love the fact that they have finally included bill payment and cancellation on their mobile banking app. As you just read, I used the word “finally”. This particular feature is definitely something that should have been made available at the launch of their mobile banking app.

Realistically, BMO has had a lot of time to work on their app, and the fact that they launched it without a bill payment function made it seem like they rushed through the process.

That being said, I am glad to see the improvements, and I cannot wait to see what other features BMO will include in the future.
