Citi has announced the first Facebook application from a loyalty program. The news is likely to not travel as fast as the false reports of a certain musicians untimely death but will surely have execs at banking institutions and credit card issuing companies scratching their heads and thinking why didnt we come up with that?

The Citi ThankYou(R) Point Sharing App is being touted as a way for ThankYou(R) Rewards members who are Facebook friends to combine their points together and use their points collective value towards a shared goal or reward. Essentially taking the notion of social networking to a new level and ushering a new dimension in the loyalty program arena.

3.04% APY Best reward checking account with Bank of Nebraska

Bank of Nebraska is still offering an attractive interest rate for their reward checking account called Investment Checking. This money in the bank has an interest rate of 3.04% APY for account balances of up to $15,000 and an interest rate of 0.10% APY can be earned for the portion of the balance above $15,000. All you need to do is meet their monthly checking account requirements to earn these best interest rates. The following is the list of requirements that you need to meet:

  • sign up and log on to online banking every month
  • subscribe and receive e-statements every month
  • make at least 12 purchases using your debit card per statement cycle
